Lucy Lane ‘Superwoman’ coming to Supergirl

Supergirl isn’t the only super heroine coming to CBS this fall. According to TVLine,
Lucy Lane (not yet cast) will debut in episode three of Supergirl. Lucy Lane is Lois Lane’s younger sister, Jimmy Olsen’s ex-girlfriend and possibly a future Superwoman.

In the comics, Lucy’s relationship with Jimmy Olsen goes as far back as the 1950’s. They have a long history of dating. Her metamorphosis into the metahuman Superwoman wasn’t introduced until much more recently. Lucy’s greatest weakness has always been letting herself live in the shadow of her older sister Lois. No word if Lois will make an appearance on the show, but it’s likely she will be referenced.

Lucy’s introduction on Supergirl brings up some interesting questions: Will her presence in National City create a love triangle between Kara, Jimmy and herself? Will she be visiting for one episode or will she be a recurring guest character? Does her appearance on the show mean even more Superman characters coming? Lastly, will they tease her future as Superwoman, or will that be held back for a few seasons?

I reached out to a few friends on Twitter to get their feedback on Lucy Lane’s appearance on the show:

Top 5 Panels at SDCC 2015

We are now less than 30 days away from the world’s biggest comic book, television and movie event of the year! What is this famed event? None other than comic book heaven on earth – San Diego Comic Con! Every year over 150,000 fan boys and fan girls, actors, exhibitors and comic book artists converge on downtown San Diego for five days of bliss and mayhem. Over those five days new movies will be announced, actors will be cast in roles that could define their careers, fans get to interact with their favorite show runners and casts, autographs are signed, comic sketches are drawn, toys are hoarded and everyone pretty much has the best sleep-deprived week of their lives!

If you are attending SDCC for the first time or you are a seasoned con veteran, you’re probably wondering what the big panels will be this year. We know that Marvel is skipping their big movie panel this year, so no Cap 3 Civil War cast for us… but who else is coming?

This week studios finally began announcing their movie and television panel line up for SDCC 2015. Based on the panel information so far, these are my top five panel suggestions and predictions for 2015:

Top 5 Panels at SDCC 2015

1. Star Wars The Force Awakens
Friday July 10 Hall H

Lucasfilm president and producer Kathleen Kennedy, director J.J. Abrams, writer Lawrence Kasdan, and special guests will preview a special look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If you can brave the crowds and the sidewalk overnight, you will have the biggest bragging rights in the world! If they show an exclusive clip that is not released to the public, you will join the ranks of the select few who have seen footage of a film that will no doubt be the biggest film of the year, if not the decade!

Star Wars Episode VII

2. WB & DC TV Superhero Saturday Night
Saturday July 11 Hall H 8pm-11pm

DC TV/Warner Brothers is back for a Saturday night Hall H takeover! Last year they rolled out the entire cast of Arrow, Gotham, The Flash and Constantine. They gave out awesome swag bags filled with tee shirts, comics, pop corn, buttons and water. They showed the entire pilots of both The Flash and Constantine, and they introduced Arrow‘s season three villain, Ra’s al Ghul (I still get goosebumps when I think about it!)

This year they are bringing back the casts of Arrow, Gotham and The Flash, as well as the casts of new shows Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow! They will be screening the Supergirl pilot in its entirety and bringing footage of Gotham, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Can you imagine how many people are going to be on that Hall H stage this year? Don’t miss it if you’re a fan of these awesome superhero shows shows!

3. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2
Thursday July 9 Hall H 12pm

Lionsgate is bringing Katniss Everdeen back to Comic Con! You don’t want to miss their exclusive footage of the final Hunger Games film or the Q&A with the cast. They haven’t announced who will be attending yet, but my money is on Jennifer Lawrence (who will be here for X-Men Apocalypse), Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Natalie Dormer and Gwendoline Christie (who will be here for Game of Thrones and The Force Awakens). This is the final installment of The Hunger Games Trilogy, so you know they will be bringing something special to Hall H this year.

4. Doctor Who
Thursday July 9 Hall H

SDCC Whovians were sadly left without a panel at last year’s Comic Con because the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi and his ‘impossible girl’ companion Jenna Coleman were on a worldwide press tour. This year they are back! Peter and Jenna are both expected to attend the panel, along with show runner Steven Moffat. They will also be screening footage of season nine, and possibly announcing a premier date!

12th Doctor and Clara

5. 20th Century FoxPOSSIBLE PANEL
Saturday July 11 Hall H

If 20th Century Fox brings any of these films to Comic Con this year, they will fill Marvel’s gap and rule Hall H on Saturday. While the studio has not announced their plans for Comic Con yet, you can be sure they will be making a historical presentation in Hall H. Two years ago they brought the entire cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past, which merged both casts of the original franchise and the prequels. It was incredible. Now that Bryan Singer has announced that X-Men Apocalypse will be his final X-Men film, you can be sure he will be promoting it at SDCC and showing footage along with the cast (possibly) Jennifer Lawrence, Sophie Turner, Oscar Isaac, Channing Tatum, Alexandra Shipp, Olivia Munn, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Amanda Condor, and Tye Sheridan.

Also likely to appear is Ryan Reynolds to promote Deadpool and possibly share some exclusive footage! 20th Century could also bring Fantastic 4, Hitman 47, The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, Victor Frankenstein and The Martian, but no official announcements have been made.

What do you think? Will Star Wars rule Comic Con this year or will the X-Men? What about Warner Brothers? Will the Batman v Superman panel out blast everyone? Will WB unveil the entire Justice League and Suicide Squad this year? Let me know your SDCC panel predictions in the comments below!
